Student in the restroom

So MARY wants to go to the restroom and you know she does this all the time. As soon as the first 15 minutes of class passes, Mary raises her hand. It’s become so commonplace at this point, the other students notice it too. They’d be like ” There goes Mary…again.” But, who are you to question Mary? 🤔 So you let Mary go to the restroom.

However, before Mary returns, Janie needs to go as well. Whether she goes frequently or not, you’d have to determine whether to send her or not.

I suggest: if Janie can wait, let her wait until Mary returns. Sending more than one student to the restroom at a time is a party. Will they go to the restroom? Probably. Will they schedule a fight? Possibly. Will they dawdle and waste time on their phones? Likely.

However, too many kids in the hallway coming from the same location sends a message about the teacher (YOU) and the Instruction (or lack thereof). Admin is watching, other students are watching…if something were to happen, your judgment will be in question.

Tip: Send on at a time. Or at least One male and one female. See if they really need to go (meaning: if they have their little “I need to go to the bathroom Dance” happening); then, make your decision.
